We are living in a moment of human history in which the consciousness that animates us — the ways in which we think, the things we believe, what we value — is changing. An old consciousness is dying, a new consciousness is being born. A chrysalis has engulfed the caterpillar as imaginal cells of butterfly are filling it up. It’s an ugly mess this transformation business. And yet there’s a poetry to it, an inevitability. And if we align with that, if we turn ourselves into imaginal cells by being practitioners of the new consciousness, we will have a far easier and, I dare say, more fun time.
Those of us who are endeavoring to live a more conscious life are continually being called upon to make that long journey from our heads to our hearts. In Spiritual Workout world we say, listen to inspiration. Listen to our guts, our intuition, our feelings. Yes, our feelings.
The crux of practicing the new consciousness for us humans is living and operating from the heart, as we often put it, not the head. The heart is where compassion resides. The heart is where authenticity resides. The heart is where trust resides. Those of us who are endeavoring to live a more conscious life are continually being called upon to make that long journey from our heads to our hearts. In Spiritual Workout world we say, listen to inspiration. Listen to our guts, our intuition, our feelings. Yes, our feelings.
Indeed, the only way to truly sift and sort through the onslaught of news and information for any of us who are curious about/interested in/working in the world of politics, anyone who seeks reliable, trusted sources of news and information, is by running it all through how any or all of it feels. It’s a muscle to grow within a larger practice of conscious politics.
For sure, it’s a process made infinitely easier the more we are aligned with what we want. I want to live in a world that works for everyone. Is what I’m seeing/hearing/feeling aligned with that or not? I want to live on a planet that is vibrant and healthy. Is what I’m seeing/hearing/feeling aligned with that or not? Or do I need more information? This is how we rise above the din. It’s how we cultivate the signal within the noise. It’s certainly how we practice conscious politics.
Personally, I find it fascinating that as we live in the swirl of the departing old consciousness and the arriving new consciousness, the best tool we have to negotiate it all, the ticket to mastering the confidence we seek with regard to the news and information we consume, the best way we have to make decisions about who and what we do and don’t trust and believe is, itself, a fundamental practice of the new consciousness — listening to inspiration.
