LAST 2 DAYS IN DELHI • Nov 17 & 18, 2025
1) Last of Cafe Life 2) Family/Neighborhood: School then Cake then Dinner • Also: Meeting w/Teacher Amit in His Classroom

Veg Quesadilla. Forgot the pic, this is in menu, looks the same IRL! Farm to table. GREAT. (And, of course, fries.)
Last Sunset from Delhi Hotel

Now-Famous Haircut + Shave

Teacher Amit @ work w/Jeetu

If only it fresh produce was this easy in Idyllwild

Cooking up some SW ideas w/Teacher Amit...Brother Amit RIGHT IN IT (video).

Picking up a few new supplies from a store in the neighborhood. Dropped kids off then Amit and I went to get a cake.

Choosing, then decorating the cake. Not chocolate? I cannot comprehend. Cakes like this have been a staple of my 11 yrs w/the family...birthdays and, first time, Family Day (or week or whatever). $2.25 Amit has a history with this guy's father.

Wherein I take one for the team. Have we talked about eating with fingers? And other people's fingers? Another time. Also, this is before dinner out at a local restaurant they know and have been to before.

FOODIES: I know, I know. I suck. Ordering was chaotic. First, I had to chase away 5 sets of eyes standing behind these 3, staring at me. Then, I thought we were each ordering for ourselves, but I guess it was more family-style with a bunch of different things showing up at random times and, well, it was quickly a fun and chaotic time before I even thought to snap a pic or two. Everyone LOVED the veg fried rice I order, though! And Anushka said it was the first time she had broccoli (they've seen me have that a lot) and mushrooms. It was all quite yummy, all very local, northern Indian fare plus some Chinese/Asian itmes as well.

Well, these two videos should have been up a little higher as they are about THE CAKE, before dinner. Good thing I'm not being graded.
FIRST FEW DAYS IN BANGALORE/BANGALURU.
Thu-Sun, Nov 20-23 (flew from Delhi on Nov 19)

Café #1: The Hole in the Wall. LOVE!

The street where I live.

My view at Hole in the Wall.

View of my perch.

To my right.

End day one in Bangaluru.
First meal minus 1 bite. W/sauteed
onions, basil, hint of mozz cheese.
Served w/ toast. Delish.

In addition to a few Americanos, also
this. Mango/guava/bananaaaaaaah.
The Hole in the Wall from the outside. Owner says he operates two rooms upstairs on Booking.com or somewhere. Off the beaten path by about 2-3 blocks. My kind of place.

After hours at Hole in the Wall, wasn't ready for home yet, so I parked myself at THIS café (name escapes me), steps from my hotel, sat where you see my laptop, and started with a juice. Nice touch: chia seeds on the surface. These tables are outside, between sidewalk and interior.

Avocado toast - minus one bite - from another day and time. :) Those are caramelized onions, btw.

Then, hungry, had this DELICIOUS fish dinner (what kind? the kind that was "white" and half the price as the salmon) with twice as many veggies as shown (under the fish) that I can still taste -- in a good way. There are a number of Southeast Asian options on the menus here and this was one of them The Mexican-style veggie burger above right was at a different time. Four days in, I think I've eaten here 3 times. Same waiter every time. And this is actually outside. There's a lot more space inside for dining and 17,000 bakery items.

END DAY ONE in Bangaluru.

Attempted this coffee, a/k/a Americano, at the outside section of "The Kind Roastery and Brew Room" on Friday -- "For Kind People, Brews, Food and Planet" -- but, alas, wifi sucked and off I went, returning to The Hole in the Wall. The trick is always to find a few stalwarts when flopping around gets old...and unproductive.

THIS VIDEO will set up the rest...

Coffee? YES!
Wifi? No-wifi-for-you!
(Yet.)
x2

Took this before learning I couldn't get online.
American exports. Passed both of these on my way to first coffee/no-wifi-for-me of the day.
MANY of the cafés here are quite swanky. Too! Again, settled in, Wifi was a go, but laptop was not! This was true in about 75% of my tiny sample on Sunday. Is apparently a weekend thing. So...24/7 coworking? Bring it.
Meanwhile, a menu from the café that doesn't welcome laptops on Sunday. (Respect, but still.) :)

Meanwhile, below, I've seen this place, Social, all over Delhi and since I've been in Bangaluru. By 3:00 on Sunday I was ready for a cold beer and to see if I could get a little something done. The beer came right away, the manager came soon after and got me online, which was really nice. It wasn't too crazy busy, thankfully, as this place looks like it ROCKS with youngins. But it was a perfect end to an all-over-the-place weekend.

MONDAY: Looking forward to Day-Passing here tomorrow morning and we shall see what happens...
...and Happy Thanksgiving. I'm grateful for YOU
in my life.
